It is now the week before Final Presentation Night. I have prepared myself throughout the entire school year for this one night. Personally, I feel great, for I know that I have learned a great deal of information regarding hip pathologies and reconstruction operations. The only thing I feel nervous about is nuance details such as how the classroom will be prepared. Ms. Epps granted me permission to use her classroom. I am very thankful for that despite the fact that it is upstairs. The room is functional and will work nicely. I will continue using my current board from Research Showcase. I liked the design of it, and I still have access to the technology involved in it. The final product itself is very simple and can easily be displayed in front of the board. It is a tangible object, so people will be welcomed to pick up and observe it as they please. I am very thankful for the opportunity granted for me. In fact, I do not see Final Presentation Night to be the end of any chapter. It should be noted, afterall, I still have an entire year left in highschool. Apart from that, there is still an infinite amount of possibilities for me and my mentor to continue researching over the summer and after I graduate. AP testing has started this week, and I am visiting Dr. Wells office for the last time before Final Presentation Night. This year, I am taking the Physics 1, U.S. History, and English Language exam. The office visit took place between the Physics and U.S. History exams. ISM has taken a large portion of my time that I would otherwise devote to other activities like wrestling or schoolwork. Although I did not spend as much time studying for the exam compared to previous years, I still felt confident coming out of that testing room. In my visit with my mentor, I presented my final product and portfolio. Dr. Wells was very happy to see all of my work compiled, and he is excited to see me continue this research onward. He invited me to a conference afterward with some resident surgeons. They were observing several case studies of patients with sports related injuries. I purposefully chose to sit and observe rather than take notes because I wanted to focus in on how these surgeons assessed each X-ray, MRI, and CT. Dr. Wells invited me to come to these meetings every month through the summer. It was all great information, and I look forward in learning more through that timespan. Overall, I had a great experience to conclude the ISM program for this year. I have a lot to look forward to later on in the summer. In fact, Dr. Wells generously offered to help me get a research project published. That would be exciting, but it would take a lot more work than what I have already done to complete that. Until then, I’ll continue visiting. Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right. - Henry Ford
